The richly illustrated history of the Benkó Dixieland Band tells the story of successes, great encounters, artistic convictions, and an unbroken fifty-year career. In separate chapters, readers can also explore the origins and achievements of an outstanding work, the Christmas Mass.
The book includes 3 CDs and 1 CD-ROM supplement. Two of the CDs feature the audio of the Mass—one accompanied by a liturgy celebrated by a minister, and the other in a purely musical form. The third CD presents a selection of pieces from the fiftieth anniversary concert.
A special feature is the CD-ROM. One part of it is a database that presents the key turning points in the band’s life, its history reflected in figures, detailed descriptions of its works, and information about the CDs.
